Position Crisis Worker Term: Part Time
Department: Fort Albany Women’s Shelter Location: Timmins, ON

Position Summary:
Under the guidance of a Shelter Supervisor and through active team participation, the Crisis Worker will be responsible for providing assistance, support and direct supervision of women and children in who are admitted to the shelter. The Crisis worker will provide these women and children with a warm, safe and caring environment safety and security.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Providing a quick response to urgent situations that arise.
- Providing intervention and short-term support to individuals experiencing a psychiatric crisis
- Communicating and coordinating relevant information with agency staff.
- Securing emergency housing (when appropriate).
- Facilitating early linkage with Internal Programs or other agencies.
- Maintaining regular contact with commonly accessed organizations
- Must be willing to work flexible hours and within a variety of settings as required
Skills Required
- Minimum Grade 10 or any experience in the social sector / volunteer work.
- The candidate will work with other professionals using strong problem solving and communication skills.
- Crisis or Suicide Intervention training is an asset;
- CPR training;
- Extensive knowledge of the support/treatment services network in the community and of regional services commonly accessed by the program;
- Proficiency in Cree is an asset
