Lead all communications planning and reporting, including website updates, social media strategy, and stakeholder outreach.
Manage media relations, serve as project spokesperson, and coordinate with contracting authorities for all public inquiries.
Support community relations through updates, public consultations, issue management, and active participation in local events.
Organize special events, produce multimedia content (photos/videos), and oversee internal and external communications tools.
Collaborate closely with the Community Relations Lead to ensure aligned and mutually supportive engagement efforts.
Participate in a multi-stage interview process and potentially on-site engagement to assess community fit and readiness.
Build trust with Indigenous and local communities through strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and authentic engagement.
Travel to remote locations (e.g., Moose Factory Island, Moosonee), with comfort in remote living and a valid driver’s license.
Lead the communications and stakeholder engagement team, manage budgets and performance indicators, and advise on sensitive issues.
This role could be for you if you have:
Degree or Diploma in communications, marketing, public relations.
Specific media relations experience including drafting news releases, crisis communications, community relations, media strategy
10+ years of experience in a similar role, with direct involvement in engagement with Frist Nation and Indigenous representatives.
Prior experience working on major projects, ideally with a focus on community relations and communications in remote or northern communities.
Clear and logical thinking; ability to dissect detailed information and simplify it for a large and varied audience.
High level of mobility for travel in Ontario, including to Indigenous and remote communities (25 – 30%).
Benefits:
