POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, The Director of Finance is directly responsible for the establishment of financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems and shall be responsible for the supervision of general accounting, accounts receivable, collection and payroll of Mushkegowuk Council. The Director of Finance shall also ensure the legal and regulatory compliance for all Mushkegowuk Council accounting and financial reporting functions, including working closely with auditors on yearly audits to report at Annual General Assemblies of Mushkegowuk Council. The Director of Finance shall provide financial management advisory services to the First Nations affiliated with the Mushkegowuk Tribal Council.
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field.
• CPA, CGMA, or MBA designation is an asset
• 5 years experience in Finance management including experience supervising staff
• Knowledge of Tribal Council funding ISC/First Nation Funding Agreement, federal and provincial funding agreements, and other political organizations MOU’s and Letters of Agreement
• Knowledge and working experience with First Nations, Native political organizations, and government agencies
• Excellent understanding and working knowledge of the ACCPAC Windows accounting program and software
• Good working organizational and administrative skills to set priorities and expedite work assignments
• Good communication and verbal skills, tact, and diplomacy to deal effectively with staff, Council and First Nations
• Must be willing to travel to Moose Factory office as required
• Valid “G” driver’s license is an asset
• Ability to communicate in the Cree language would be an asset
